Tooth Day

Movement Lesson
for Tooth Day

Objective:
The students will act out flossing a set of teeth.

Materials

  • A large area allowing for movement.

  • Jump ropes or long pieces of string to serve as "dental floss".

Procedure

  1. Assign some of the students tooth names - incisors, molars, premolars, and canines.

  2. Have them assemble themselves in the proper order of these teeth.

  3. Have the remaining students pair up and each hold one end of a jump rope.  These students can then act out flossing in between the teeth.

Other Lesson Ideas

  1. Sung to the tune of "Here We Go 'Round the Mulberry Bush", have the students sing "This is the Way We Brush our Teeth" and act it out.

  2. Discuss how other things besides people have "teeth", such as combs.  Using combs and wax paper, make "Comb Kazoos".
