Gingerbread  Day

Movement Lesson
for Gingerbread Day

Objective:
The students will act out their own version of The Gingerbread Boy. (This may also fulfill the Language Arts requirement.)

Materials

  • At least 2 different versions of The Gingerbread Boy.  Suggestions may be found on the Gingerbread Home Page.

  • A wide open space allowing for movement.

Procedure

  1. Read the versions of The Gingerbread Boy.

  2. Depending on the age of the students either put them in small groups of 5-6 or work together as a whole class to act out a new version of the Gingerbread Boy.  The students will need time to plan their version, assign parts, and act it out.

Other Lesson Ideas

  1. Have the students play a game of tag.  Certain students may be the characters trying to catch the gingerbread men and others may be the gingerbread men.
