Cookie Day

Art Lesson
for Cookie Day

Objective:
The students will create a painting or drawing using cookie cutters.

Materials

  • Cookie cutters

  • Paper

  • Paint

  • Trays for the paint

  • Markers, crayons, colored pencils

Procedure

  1. Instruct the students to create a picture using cookie cutters as a means to apply paint or to trace with a writing utensil.

  2. Provide the students with paint in paint trays and cookie cutters to dip into the paint.  Students may then choose to use the cookie cutters in paint or to trace the cookie cutters with markers, crayons, or colored pencils.

  3. Allow the students to be creative as they wish in creating pictures using the cookie cutters.

  4. The students may fill in the background and detail of their painting with regular paint brushes, markers, colored pencils, or crayons.

Other Lesson Ideas

  1. Have the students create "cookie jars" out of oatmeal containers.

  2. The students may "paint" cookies by using the following link: PBS.

  3. Have the students create a box for a newly developed cookie.  The packaging should contain the name of their cookie, slogan, and colorful design.
